Day 1

Nairobi to Sirimon Gate – Trek to Old Moses Camp

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi by pop-up roof 4x4 vehicle toward Sirimon Gate, the starting point of the Sirimon Route on Mount Kenya.

The road journey takes you through the central highlands and into the mountain region, where the landscape becomes cooler, greener, and more dramatic as you approach the national park.

After park registration and briefing, begin your trek through forest and moorland terrain to Old Moses Camp.

This first day is designed to introduce you to the mountain gradually, making it ideal for acclimatization while still giving you beautiful views of the surrounding slopes and valleys.

Arrive at camp in time to rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the higher-altitude days ahead.

Meal Plan: Lunch & Dinner
Transport Distance & Time: Nairobi to Sirimon Gate approx. 250 km | 4–5 hours by road

Day 2

Old Moses Camp to Shipton’s Camp

After breakfast, continue your ascent deeper into Mount Kenya’s rugged landscape.

Today’s trek moves from the lower mountain zone into the higher alpine environment, where the scenery becomes more dramatic and the air noticeably thinner.

As you climb, you’ll pass through open moorlands, ridges, and valleys with increasingly expansive views.

The trek to Shipton’s Camp is more challenging than Day 1 but highly rewarding, offering unforgettable views of Mount Kenya’s rocky peaks and glacier-carved terrain.

Shipton’s Camp sits beneath the mountain’s main summit area and provides a spectacular overnight base for your summit attempt.

Spend the evening relaxing, hydrating, and resting early for the pre-dawn climb planned for the next day.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Transport Distance & Time: Trekking only | Approx. 7–8 hours trekking
Trekking Distance: Approx. 14 km

Day 3

Shipton’s Camp – Point Lenana Sunrise Summit – Descend to Old Moses Camp

Very early in the morning, begin your sunrise summit attempt to Point Lenana, the trekking peak of Mount Kenya. This is the most exciting day of the itinerary, as you hike in the dark with headlamps toward the summit in time for the first light of dawn.

Reaching the top rewards you with sweeping views over the mountain range, cloud-filled valleys, and, on a clear morning, an unforgettable African sunrise.

After celebrating the summit and taking photos, descend back toward the lower slopes and continue to Old Moses Camp for the night.

The descent is long but satisfying, and by the time you arrive back at camp, you will have completed the most memorable part of the trek.

Enjoy dinner and a well-earned rest after a full day on the mountain.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Transport Distance & Time: Trekking only | Approx. 10–12 hours total trekking and descent
Trekking Distance: Approx. 18–20 km

Day 4

Old Moses Camp to Sirimon Gate – Return to Nairobi

After breakfast, begin your final descent from Old Moses Camp to Sirimon Gate, retracing the lower section of the route through forest and mountain scenery.

This final trek is gentler than the summit day and gives you time to enjoy the last views of Mount Kenya before leaving the park.

At Sirimon Gate, meet your driver and transfer back to Nairobi by pop-up roof 4x4 vehicle.

The drive offers a quiet chance to reflect on the achievement of completing the trek and the natural beauty you experienced along the way.

Arrive in Nairobi later in the day, marking the end of your Mount Kenya adventure.

Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch
Transport Distance & Time: Sirimon Gate to Nairobi approx. 250 km | 4–5 hours by road
Trekking Distance & Time: Old Moses Camp to Sirimon Gate approx. 9 km | 2–3 hours trekking
