You depart Nairobi early in the morning in a pop-up roof 4x4 vehicle and drive through Kenya’s central highlands toward Sirimon Gate.
After registration at Mount Kenya National Park, your trek begins through montane forest trails rich with wildlife such as colobus monkeys and forest birds.
The gradual ascent allows you to acclimatize while enjoying the cool mountain air and scenic vegetation zones.
In the afternoon, you continue trekking through bamboo and heath zones until you reach Mt Kenya Bandas for your first overnight stay. The evening is spent relaxing, enjoying dinner, and preparing for the higher altitude trek ahead.

After breakfast, you continue your ascent deeper into the mountain ecosystem, trekking across open moorlands with panoramic views of the peaks.
The trail offers dramatic scenery as vegetation changes and alpine landscapes begin to dominate.
You will also enjoy picnic stops along the way with spectacular photography opportunities.
By afternoon, you arrive at Lake Ellis Campsite, a stunning alpine lake area surrounded by rugged cliffs and highland scenery.
The evening is spent camping under the stars with dinner served at camp.

Today’s trek is more remote and scenic as you ascend further into the upper mountain zone.
The trail passes through valleys, ridges, and glacially carved landscapes offering some of the best photography moments on the route.
Your guide will interpret the unique flora and geology of the region.
You arrive at Minto’s Camp in the afternoon, located in a dramatic high-altitude basin.
The cold mountain evening sets in early, and you enjoy a warm dinner as you rest at one of the most scenic camps on the route.

After an early breakfast, you begin your descent toward the Sirimon side of the mountain.
The landscape changes as you move back through moorlands and heath zones, offering sweeping views of valleys and distant peaks. This section allows for a more relaxed hiking pace.
By late afternoon, you arrive at Old Moses Camp, where you settle in for your final mountain overnight experience.
Dinner is served as you reflect on your cross-mountain journey.

After breakfast, you descend the final stretch to Sirimon Gate, where your trekking adventure officially ends.
Your driver will be waiting with the 4x4 vehicle for your transfer back to Nairobi through the scenic central highlands.
You arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon or early evening, marking the end of your unforgettable Mount Kenya trekking expedition.
